As a former Serviceman himself, naturally this section of the gallery is especially poignant and the most personal for David. His past unenviable role has included tending the wounded, conducting last rites, burying and remembering the fallen and the hardest task of all, that of notifying his fellow Servicemens' families that their loved one was "on the clock" or in Navy slang "crossed the bar" and then supporting them through all of their grief.

"This picture of David standing near the stone memorial 'Cairn' was constructed by Brothers and Sisters in Arms built from stones, many returned from the Falkland Islands themselves to commemorate the Falklands lads and girls, at Pangbourne Chapel, the Falklands Memorial Chapel, in Berkshire" - (I'm quoting David directly here rather than altering the photograph's caption as it didn't feel right to change his words in this instance - Ed.).
