I would like to pay my respects publicly to a very brave and courageous lady named "Cora". To all her family members too. "Cora" was diagnosed with Cancer 3 times and fought with might to overcome this illness. Tragically the fourth time it returned with a vengeance and the battle against it was lost. I was requested to visit "Cora" at her home, and speak with her. After being introduced and welcomed with a warm smile we sat down and had a chat. I could see that she was very ill visually. Time, I knew might be short. I also sensed that she knew, certainly better than I, probably better than any, just how short time was. "Cora" openly and bravely told me she was dying. She had informed all her family so there would not be any 'unfinished business'. We talked about spiritual questions, some which needed answers, though most "Cora" had already answered herself. A true Christian and educated lady. I ministered to her that day, I learned a lot in return, as she no doubt did from me. She thanked me for attending and for the derived peace and strength she now felt. We said goodbye, knowing in our hearts that we would never meet again in this life, trusting in faith our next meeting would be in God's nearer presence and beyond time. This occurred in mid. October. At a time of rejoicing on Christmas Day. "Cora" having returned to her own Country with her husband, to say her last farewells sadly passed away. Now elevated to a higher life where as "Cora" stated, "It will be Heaven". I would like to share this prayer for all the family, and all others who have lost loved ones. "Heavenly Father, to your care we commit all those who watch and wait with people they know and love. With loved one's who have passed on into the elevated service of our Lord. Enable them to accept the moment of death as friend, not foe, knowing that all love in this life flows from your love, which is stronger than death itself, as you have shown us in the living, dying, and rising of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord." I thank "Cora" for allowing me to share such a little of her life in such a short time. May God Bless her and all her family, especially Myles at this time. David.

Thanks very much David for a wonderful course. A real eye opener. Pity the CID was not around earlier when I was "in the thick of it" daily. Nice to learn from someone who can not only teach, but has been there and done it.Far too many "text book teachers" around these days. Keep up the good work. Your country needs you! David and I are pleased to announce that the Public can now make contact with the British Independent Clergy Register to ascertain if a Priest is Police checked and free from any convictions / cautions where the safety of children are concerned. The purpose of this register is to establish and maintain a Public Register of Independent Bishops, Clergy and other Ministers with contact details for the use of Social Services, Local Authorities, mainstream Churches, and the general public. The public will be able to telephone the Register in order to check out Ministers. It is hoped that the position will be arrived at where every Independent Minister would understand the need to be registered. Many genuine Priests and Clergy have put themselves under the spotlight for Police clearance because of the adverse media publicity of those clergy who have fallen short of their office. The register is in place to PROTECT THE PUBLIC from those who would pretend to be accredited Ministers for unlawful purposes, such as paedophilia and charity fraud, and those who have histories involving abusive behaviour towards vulnerable people, both adults and children. It is a matter of having a clear conscience when you know Clergy are police cleared and your loved one's and children are SAFE. The Independent Ministers have put themselves under scrutiny, let us see what the Mainstream Churches intend doing? Contact details are:- British Independent Clergy Register, (Canon. Prof.Barry Peachey) Tel No. 01652 688819 Url: www.netministries.org/see/charmin/CM06845 David and all of us at the Trauma Centre will help in any way too. Anne

Geoff, Thanks for sharing how you feel, it takes courage and guts to put in writing with an email address. By stating your feelings, I can confirm it reassures a lot of fellow colleagues, they are not alone. Nor should they be for one minute. This site was the beginning in an effort to help all, especially Emergency Services, Armed Services and Civilian Personnel. A lot of unseen work and contact goes on not outlined on the site. I would also request any "Traffpol" out there to make contact with Geoff. "Traffpol" are known for their camara'derie and helping colleagues, so let's make contact. Please also feel able to assist and reply to all our "friends" who have signed the Guestbook. Geoff, remember we are only a phone call away, I mean it. Please give us a call when you can. We would like to hear from you. Best Wishes, David.

I would like to express my appreciation to all participants and "Rod" who worked so hard to enable both Michael and myself to run the Debriefing Course at Nottingham from the 20th - 21st April. The interest, and input by all participants was immense. This Course I felt participants gave all, and the standard reached was exceptionally high. Michael and I stated that in the closing speech, I confirm it in public. Should an Individual or Business feel they would benefit from a 'debriefing process' within the Nottingham and surrounding areas, we would be honoured to supply the details of a newly formed debriefing team network. Well done to all participants, We are immensely proud of your participation. David.

Recently the Centre has received many enquiries from the Media. Many Organisations requesting a speaker for a presentation on Trauma / PTSD / and Critical Incident Management. The enquiries appear to have a genuine interest to understand the effects of Traumatic incidents on family members and/or work colleagues. Employers express genuine concern for their work force, and wish to educate all in what to be aware of when dealing with such incidents. To this end, all colleagues at the Centre have suggested that a Seminar / Presentation similar to that given by the Centre to Armed Services and Emergency Services Personnel be compiled. This has now been completed. The following Presentations are now available from the Centre:-
Listening Skills for Trauma Specialists Pre-Exposure Preparation Training / Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Critical Incident Stress Management/ Basic Course / Critical Incident Debriefing Peer Support and Crisis Intervention During Critical Incidents
All Enquiries for a Speaker / Presenter for the above may be made via the Centre Manager. Charities and Non Profit making Organisations are included. David Bennett (Director)

Congratulations on a brilliant site David and Anne. From our phone conversation and with your guidance I feel I'm on the right path in helping sufferers of PTSD and their families. Thanks so much for your advice and help, it's been invaluable. You must have seen the tv advert last year for one of the Unions, Unison I believe, where one solitary 'ant' cant be heard, but together they make a voice to be heard and listened to...I know in time the same will apply for your work. Anyone interested in forming a Support Group in Cornwall please e-mail me Keep up the good work Best Wishes Annette

I am a 33 male who has been diagnosed as suffering from chronic PTSD due to an assault at work. I am a Prison Officer. Unfortunately the Prison Service do not admit PTSD is caused by their working enviroment. For 12 months now i have had no home visits from Personell services but others who do not have PTSD but are off on sick leave have had numerous visits by managemet. I have been on 1/3 rd pay now for 6 months as they refuse to aknowledge i was "hurt" in the line of duty. Is this an unusual case ?

Craig, thanks for email message on guestbook. I will communicate with you direct and not on this site, for obvious reasons. Secondly, to answer your question, you are not alone. I can confirm that there are others in your position, and it is by highlighting the problem like you have done brings it out in the public domain. I will as promised return a message via your personal email also. Thank you. David

May I request any individual reading this Guest Book and interested in Trauma and particularly Hypnosis to make contact with the below named. I have recently returned from Victoria, Mahe, Seychelles where I was invited on a return visit to give a presentation and talks on PTSD and Debriefing Techniques at Mont Fleuri Hospital. The Training Officer Mr. Ray Oliver has been actively involved in the Mental Health field out there now for over 30 years. Ray is highly qualified in the use of Hypnosis and has perfected a technique where he can get patients fitted with 'pacemakers' to quite deep states. As any one will know when a pacemaker is fitted the heart beat maintains a constant beat. So no heart beat changes when someone becomes angry, tired, or distressed. I had the opportunity of visiting with Ray some of the outlying Clinics. Many on neighbouring Islands where he runs these Clinics on his own. Often patients are beginning to wait for his arrival from 7 am in the morning for treatment. Perhaps this says it all what the 'Seychellois' think of Ray. He is highly respected and appreciated. Please make contact if you are a Hypnotherapist as Ray would like to share and expand his vast knowledge with you. I would also at this juncture like to extend to Ray and Rita our appreciation for looking after us during our stay at their home. I thank all staff at Mont Fleuri Hospital for their warmth and appreciation towards me, during the presentations and talks I gave there. Please make a contact with Ray, it would be very much appreciated. Thank you. Ray has only limited use of the computer thus some delay may occur in return mails. Details:- oliver1939@hotmail.com Many thanks, David and Anne.

If you are a partner of a PTSD survivor, finding yourself banging your head against a 'brick wall' with nobody listening to you. Please remember we are here to assist all of you. Don't just sit there in despair as a family member, pick that phone up and make contact.
